Freedom Through Food: The Importance of Local & Alternative Food Sources

April 4th at Garden Cafe starting at 5:00

This will be an amazing event not to be missed! We will open the doors at 5:00pm for some mingling. At 5:45 we will hold a panel discussion with:

Marie Tedei – Eden’s Organic Farm, CSA & Community Market

Susie Marshall – Executive Director of GROW North Texas, President of Texas Organic Farmers & Gardeners Association

Charles Plummer – Culinary Director of The Youth Village of Dallas and participant with Cafe Momentum

Dave Pennington – Aquaponics Expert, discussing the future of sustainable farming

Stacy Cherones – President & Co-Founder of Get Healthy Dallas, Board Member with the Dallas Metro Fresh Food Alliance

After the discussion we will all break out for an informal Q&A, meet & greet, networking party. The general conversation will cover many topics with participating representatives from many groups focused on a wide range of activities. We will build relationships with food activists and bicycle advocates, progressive artists with event planners, community designers with aquaponic growers…etc.

Sponsors and Representatives from other groups include:

TEDxSMU Director Heather Hankamer

Edible DFW

Greenling DFW

Patrick McDonnell – Revolutionary Pants Creative Director and avid community designer

Chelsea Miller – Editor of “Naked Earth” Arts Journal

Brandon & Susan Pollard – Texas Honeybee Guild

Vincent De Jesus – Bike Friendly Greenville

Grady McGahan – Executive Director of reTREEt America

Shelley Travell – Dylan & Co.

Garden Cafe will provide some light complimentary snacks, and will offer a light dinner menu as well.

This event is BYOB, however, we will hopefully be able to announce donations from a local brewery soon as well. Bring your favorite drink, and hang out all night!

Much more to be announced soon, so stay in touch!
