IfWeRanTheWorld

We want to know what YOU would do if YOU ran the world.

Would you start a community garden? Make sure recycling bins are at every gas station? Turn Main Street in downtown Dallas into a pedestrian mall?

IfWeRanTheWorld.com is our partner in turning good intentions into actions. Find us on IWRTW and see what ideas for action came from Idea Week/TEDxSMU or TEDxKIDS @SMU. Help us by creating microactions for our action platforms and ACTING on them.

Want to know what some of our superheros are working on?

TEDxKIDS @SMU is encouraging students to be involved in their communities. Check out the action.

Idea Week is working on finding ways to eat local and know where our food comes from. Check out the action.

Want to know the background for this project?

Here’s the story. One of the things we’ve struggled with since Day 1 of working on TEDxSMU is the “so what” question. So we bring together really interesting speakers and hopefully our audience leaves a little more curious, a little more inspired, and a little more engaged in the surrounding world. But what are we really doing to help that process of turning ideas into action? And, what role should we play in that journey?

And then we connected with the good folks at IfWeRanTheWorld.com. The entire premise of the platform is that anyone can log on, create an action platform about anything in the world they think is important, and DO IT. It works perfectly for a community as wildly diverse as ours. Some folks want to recycle milk cartons in schools; some are interested in traveling the world. It can be a small to-do or a grand plan…as long as you want to do something about it!

So, during Dallas Idea Week, TEDxSMU and TEDxKIDS @SMU, we distributed and collected action cards that let people tell us what they wanted to see happen. These actions are all aggregated on the IfWeRanTheWorld site under either Idea Week or TEDxKIDS @SMU. It’s now up to us…the community that gave the ideas in the first place…to log on and “get off our good intentions and microact.” Hope you’ll join us.

Have an idea you want to share?

Either log on to the website, or you can do this the old fashion way and send us a card. Download the action cards here:
