Ben Ovenshire, Kieran Celii, and Drew Curran provide their reflections on how striving to improve teamwork within FRC team 2848 created a strong foundation during the team’s 2014 season.
The Jesuit Robotics Team aspires to inspire Jesuit students and the local community to seek careers in science and technology. They prepare students to make an informed decision about their college major and future career by giving them hands-on experience with industry standard equipment and practices framed within the competitions created by FIRST Robotics. Students lead and experience the entire project life cycle with each annual robotics challenge under the guidance and supervision of several faculty members, parents, and mentors who are professionals in the fields of mathematics, science, and engineering. Jesuit Robotics develops partnerships with local and international companies. They often participate in corporate events that showcase the students’ achievements. Jesuit Robotics helps generate servant leaders through its cooperation with the Jesuit Community Service and Social Justice program. The seniors reach out to local Catholic middle schools during their Wednesday service to coach Lego robotics teams. Last year Jesuit Robotics supported 4 teams in both FLL and Diocesan Robotics.
