Katrina Leshan – TEDxKids@SMU 2012
Originally from Las Vegas, Katrina is in her fourth year at the Meadows School of the Arts at SMU, pursuing a Bachelor of Music Degree in Classical Guitar Performance and participating in the University’s Honors Program. She studies with world-renowned guitarist Robert Guthrie and gives recitals at SMU each semester. In April 2011, Katrina and her partner took first place in the Brownsville Guitar Competition in the Duo Category. Katrina traveled to Blonay, Switzerland in June 2011 to participate in the Music11 Festival, where she premiered new chamber works with the Grammy Award-winning ensemble Eighth Blackbird. In July 2012 she traveled to Maccagno, Italy to premiere new chamber works in the soundSCAPE festival’s eighth season. She hopes to pursue a Masters of Music degree in fall 2013 and seeks the opportunity to travel and be involved in innovative chamber music.
