Lewis Warren, Jr. – TEDxKids@SMU 2012

Lewis, 15, is an award-winning pianist and an accomplished composer, arranger, and improviser. His special ability to connect with people through music was evident at an early age. He started composing many of his own songs when he was five years old, and he has been a frequent top prizewinner in local, state and international piano competitions since he was eight. Most recently, he was a top prizewinner in the 2011 Dallas Symphony Orchestra Lynn Harrell Concerto Competition. In 2012, he was named a grand prizewinner in the both the Dallas Symphonic Festival and McKinney Young Artist Competitions, and Lewis was the first place winner in the TMTA 9–10 Concerto Performance Contest. He was the featured performer at the Van Cliburn Foundation’s 50th Anniversary Gala Celebration and is currently an artist with their Musical Awakenings Program. Lewis studies with Dr. Carol Leone at SMU Meadows School of the Arts.
