Sharing of my story in how I was hired into the world of Sports Television…overcoming the hurdles of being a college student with limited to no experience and landing a job with NBC…and how I used that learning to get a job at The Coca-Cola Company.
Being a woman in sports television in the 80s was rare – and as a college student I didn’t see any barriers to getting a job – so I just called and asked. Well, it wasn’t simply that easy – but also not that hard. I have a love for storytelling and humor. What I learned was to go after what you want – and I believe I can share that passion and give people permission and and enable that first step in going after their dream. Desire and perseverance; supported by a willingness to work hard and learn. My first promotion at The Coca-Cola Company brought me to Dallas, and it was only the beginning. As the result of that first phone call, I just retired from The Coca-Cola Company after 30 years.
